Bark collars are extremely convenient tools if you want to control your dog from excessive barking. Though barking is a perfectly normal behavior for dogs, it could be very distracting around the neighborhood. For dog owners, bark collars could be very useful to maintain a peaceful and bark free surrounding. Three of the most popular bark control collars available today are sonic collars, spray collars and the static or electricity collars.
There are several types of bark collars that you can use help train your pet. These bark collars are broken down into 3 main categories. The first one is the shock collars. These collars are the most effective bark collars on the market today. They work by emitting a gentle shock to your pet when he/she begins to bark. These shock bark collars work on big or small dogs and are generally effective with only a few training sessions.
The other type is the ultrasonic bark collars. These collars release a high decibel pitch when your dog barks. The noise is unheard by humans, but is quite annoying to your dog’s sensitive hearing. This correction works well for most dogs, but is not effective on deaf or hard-of-hearing pets
The third and last category is the spray bark collars. Spray bark collars also known as citronella bark collars which emits a strong scent, usually lemon or citronella. Although these sprays are annoying to your dog’s strong sense of smell, they are non-toxic sprays. A spray bark collar is the best dog collars to use when you want to use the most humane yet immediate solution to stop your dog’s barking problem. This type of bark collar should be given to dogs that are at least six months of age and weighing at least 6 lbs. These products are only effective if your dog has a mild problem. Often times a dog will get used to the smell if the training goes on for an extended period of time. The good news is that this collar spray works on the four senses of dog; sense of hearing, sense of smell, sense of sight and sense of feeling.
Many people think that bark collars are in humane or cruel, but they are actually quite safe. The electric shock emitted by the dog shock collars is more of an irritant rather than a pain inflicting device. It is meant to startle your dog, not inflict pain. In humans you can correlate this to static electricity type o shock. The ultrasonic and spray collars are also quite harmless, but we don’t recommend you to use the spray bark collars on hounds or other dogs who rely on their sense o smell to perform hunting or other duties.
The main side effect to a bark collar is the desired effect. Your dog’s barking problem will become a thing of the past. Bark collars work and if you want to provide quick relief to your dog’s behavior issue, no bark collars are an excellent choice.
