The primary use of a bark collar is to prevent your dog from barking at the wrong place and at the wrong time. Though there could several valid reasons for your dog to act relentlessly like when you are out of the house for too long or smelled a visitor's scent or someone new to the house or maybe because it is just annoyed with the current condition it has at the moment of the mad behavior. Worse, dogs that disturbs the community may end up at the local Humane Society which most dog owners are afraid to happen. However, when bark collars were invented the trouble of the hysterical dogs come to pass and were solved effectively because of technology.
Basically, there are two types of bark collar in the market today. The electrical bark collar, that works by producing a warning tone or vibration when the dog first begins to bark. If the dog ignores the warning and continue to bark, it emits a small electric shock to prevent the dog from barking more. The collar's shock strength can be adjusted and owners natural set the power to minimum level that could catch the dogs attention. Some breeds have very high pain tolerance, such as the traditional fighting breeds, and this must be taken into account.
The spray collar on the other is also an effective bark control device which does not utilize electric shock but rather by a burst of all-natural citronella spray. Spray collars are perfectly not harmful but still an excellent deterrent to severe barking. Additionally, dogs don't like the hissing noise that comes from the collar, and they don't like the smell of the citronella. Normally, this type of collar works for dogs who ignores electric shocks.
